Snapchat for iOS, iPhone – Free Download
If you haven’t ever been a part of it, it can be pretty overwhelming. Congratulations if you figured it all out, but if you haven’t then read along…
This post will take you into the background and workings of this trendsetter, all the while glancing at the basics.
Snapchat started as an image-messaging and multimedia mobile app by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown as they were students at Stanford University
The model for Snapchat was designed by Brown and Spiegel under the name“Picaboo” as Spiegel’s college project, the idea was to introduce a way to communicate using short-lived images.
Murphy wrote the source code for the application, and Picaboo was launched for iOS July 2011 but two months later was re-launched as Snapchat.
Snapchat later turned into a hobnob of 1-on-1 chats, public content, brands, promotions, networks, publications, and even live events like sports and music.
Snapchat for iOS Features
Like rest of the social networks, Snapchat too has its own lingo. It’s necessary for any newbie to learn the language here or just crack a neck while at it.
Snap: A Snap is an image or videos sent by using the app to one person or a group of friends and will disappear after 10 seconds and can be replayed only once.
Stories: a perpetual timeline that showcases all the photos and videos that you might like to share with Snapchat buds. To view a friend’s story, enter onto Snapchat’s camera screen and swipe left.
Snapchat score: it is the number under a profile, counted by the number of Snaps you have sent and received (including Stories).
Filter: A Snap filter is an overlay that can be layered over original pictures and can be changed according to special well-known events or holidays, time of day and some time, even the location.
Snap lenses: it is used to add animated effects to your photos or videos. The difference is that unlike Snap filters, the lenses layer the media while taking a Snap.
Geofilter: These filters are unique to users’ location. Turn on location in Snapchat to enable Geofilters or create a custom Geofilter for $5 only.
Snapcode: it is a Snapchat profile’s unique QR code which is assigned to all users and is a quick and easy way to find and add friends on Snapchat. It can be put on a profile anywhere on the internet to connect to a person on Snapchat.
Snapcode selfie refers to personalizing a snapcode by adding a selfie to the code. The public in nature, choose with caution as any inept picture can put you in trouble.
Chat: Snapchat’s instant messenger. Sticking to the theme, these messages disappear once they have been viewed. Even if a screenshot of a chat is taken, the other user will be informed of it.
Memories: Memories is a camera roll feature that backs up your Snaps. You can switch your Memories between private or public. You can also post older Snaps to your Story from Memories.
Snapchat for iOS in Appstore
A famous app now, a simple search in the Apple Appstore in an iPhone is enough for a download. If you want to try through the desktop, just sync your device with iTunes to install the app. Even if you own an iPad, the trick is to sync your device by clicking on iPhone apps instead of the iPad section.
With new ways to express oneself, social media has given a new freedom to expression. Snapchat might be just another ways to express through pictures but it is highly popular at that. Go take a snap!
